Interjections

Strange as it may seem, exclamations for pain, surprise, disgust, etc. are not totally spontaneous: they, too, are learnt with one's mother tongue. So an Italian says "ahi!" where an English person would say "ouch!" - e.g. when closing one's thumb into a drawer.

In Eng. you express approval or satisfaction with the adjective "good!" In similar cases, It. uses the adverb "bene!" that usually corresponds to "well".

Some interjections are part of greetings and you can find them here . Ciao!
