The possessive case

The so-called Saxon genitive with 's does not exist in It. The possessive case is one of the several instances of "complemento di specificazione" using the preposition "di" .

This applies to the possessive case proper - for example, "Fabio's restaurant Il ristorante di Fabio" - and to the other expressions using the genitive form: "Today's news Le notizie di oggi", "A mile's walk Una camminata di un miglio" and so on.

"Whose... ?" corresponds to "Di chi... ?" Note: Eng. "whose" can be followed immediately by the object owned: "Whose pen is this?" It. requires the structure "Di chi è questa penna?"
